Outside Door Handle Rod Clip Part # Needed, Dealer can't find right part

Can someone help me identify the part # for this part? It broke while removing my door handles to get them rekeyed. It is on an 88, if the parts are different. The dealer has ordered the wrong part twice from the bad illustrations on the mazda catalog.

I belive it is called a Rod Clip, and is attached to top of the door handle. It operates with the opening of the door.

Yes thats correct, but the metal that holds on that clip on the door handle might just be broken.

To take the door handle off after the door panel is off, remove the little black plug near the back of the door. There are two nuts that hold on the door handle that if i remember are 10mm. With the window up, look where that little black plug was and you will see the nut, go ahead and remove it. Then roll down the window and you will have access to the other nut behind the plastic covering of the inside of the door. After you remove this, you will see a little plastic that rod clip that moves when you lock and unlock the door, pry the plastic to the side and pull the rod out of the clip. (be carefull to keep the rod pushed inside of the door, or it will hit your window when you roll it down). My drivers side had two harnesses and pass side had one harness connected near the top of the door, that is connected to the lock. Remove these from their harness get the wires out of their retaining clips.I then rolled down my window when i removed the door handle. Go outside and you should be able to pull out and down from the bottom of the handle, it will take a slight bit of force if the rod is still connected to the top of the clip. At this point the rod and the harness will still be inside of the door, but the handle will be out. I had to kinda push down and to the side and slip the rod through the opening for the handle.

I then removed my clips (this is where one of mine snapped) and do everything is reverse to reattach of corse.

The dealer says you can get that clip? It would seem to me that you would have to order that entire assembly. Ive never heard of being able to order specific parts off of another part, especially somthing small like a door handle assembly.
I would advise you to take a look in the parts for sale section here, and also ebay theres always ppl parting out their cars im sure you can find one pretty easily.

Ok guys,

I went to the dealer and I they actually ordered the right part this time. The description is misleading "Lock Rod Clip" part# H04372411 if anyone else ever needs to order one. I think one of only like 3 parts you can get besides the entire assembly.

The *handle* part breaks most often imho.

As for the threaded part that holds the rod to the handle.............junk yard. But I just got me a piece (block) of aluminum and cut out a piece the size of the broken part. Drilled and threaded it and ground a TIT on it to fit through the hole in handle after threading it on the rod. You have to adjust the piece up/down on the rod for good preformance. This one will not ever break.

The original is a clever little fellow, what with being threaded plastic and has a hinge outfit on it.

I understood what broke on your. I have a collection of those. I've never been able to glue/weld/whatever those back together.

The original thread starter had the piece broken that I described being made out of a block of aluminum. Confused I am not. Know door handles inside and out.
