outcome of a shredded turbo compressor wheel

So, after my hybrid (60-1) bit the dust a few months back, I started to lose compression with every week that goes by. Was 85psi before the turbo went kaput, and last week it was at 60psi.

On the hybrid, the compressor nut worked its way loose. I had forgotten to tighten it to spec after rebuilding it. It shredded the compressor wheel and the compressor housing. The wheel itself fused with the shaft.

Now the shredded remains were mixed in with the oil leaking through the compressor seal and were everywhere in the intake pipes, manifold, and intercooler. I washed everything out and thought it everything was cool. Everything wasnt cool

The seal are Rotary Aviation Super Seals 3mm. I also found out that for the front rotor, all of the Apex seal single springs are all distorted but the rear rotor its all fine. What causes these distortion??

Hey the apex seal didn't break!
I never would have thought about the oil problem after a turbo blew. But you even flushed the oil and things still went wrong. There was nothing you could have done at that point. D'oh!

these apex seals are hard to bend, I tried bending it with my hand and it only flexed about 2mm.

There was nothing wrong with the crankcase oil.
The oil leaked through the turbo seals and into the compressor housing and mixed with the shredded bits of the compressor wheel. In the intake was a coat of oil with lots of silver specs in it.

the springs warp due to heat, which was caused by the friction under boost.

if the seals only contact half of the rotor housing surface it loses 50% of its thermal conductivity and the seals will overheat the springs.

the housings actually look salvagable.

I have a set of housings that look like this as well, apex seals came out with the same scrapes on the face.

Black Knight RX7 FC3S - do you go out to any of the philly car meets?

So does this involve some sort of elaborate machine work, or is it done by hand?
