Opinions..what modifications would you do first?

Opinions..what modifications would you do first?
Just got an '88 GXL, 80k miles. First thing I know it needs is shocks(what type,struts?), after that what mod would anyone suggest. And please give $ value and a brand name for me.
It's been 13 years since I owned a 7!

It depends on what you're trying to improve...
For suspension, you're right - shocks makes the most difference most of time.  KYB AGX's are the ticket here for price and performance @ <$400 for a set of 4.  If that's too much of a purchase, Tokico (non-adjustable) high-performance shocks are priced under $300 for a set of 4.
As for power, exhaust is the key.  It can be price, so most people opt for some kinda intake, but opening the exhaust is the key to making power on a rotary engine.
