Opinions On New Engine

I've did some searching but have came up with some conflicting information. The coolant seals are on there last leg in my '86 NA GXL, so I am in the market for a new engine (or rebuild.) My questions are:

1. Rebuild current engine or buy a rebuilt TII (along with other neccesary parts) and convert it?

2. Price of just a rebuild vs. converting to a TII?

I would want to get a mild street port either way (still doing some research on this.) I would also have a shop here in Texas to do all the wrench work, but I want an idea of what to go with before I start talking to them.

You left out the most important part of your equation:

What is your budget?

I always forget something

Price really isn't a major concern to me (first time I've ever said that.) I can go $4-5K, but I want to keep it under $3K.

3K gets you a good NA rebuild with new housings, street port and 5 year warrenty at Pineapple Racing.

3K CAN to a TII conversion, but "I" would buy a TII aand rebuild the engine. TII's are great, but higher maintenance than a NA, the mods just keep going and going.

How old are you? Are you ready to pay the insurance on a TII or Turbo conversion. Don't try the Na canversion and not tell your insurance co. about the turbo. If you get in an accident, the ins. co. could say you are NOT covered due to the modifications of the turbo conversion. John
