Opinions on hood pins
I am looking for hood pins for my shine pan speed style carbon fiber hood. Standard hood pins are ugly, and some types can even scratch the hood with a removable pin.
My last "toy" car I installed aerocatch hood pins due to my seibon ts carbon fiber hood shaking with not too much speed using only the oem latch. My fc currently has the oem latch removed. I'd rather not use it, and only rely on the pins. It was a pain in the *** using both before.
What do you guys think about installing 2 quik latch mini's on my hood in place of the lower hood cusions? These units are small and you can get springs with them to pop the hood up. They have a 150lb rating each. Easy to install compared to the aerocatch units. I just want to be sure they will hold the hood down since it's not their $300 over priced "hood pin". Opinions?

I'm having trouble responding as all the blood rushed to my head looking at the first picture.
EDIT: I've recovered from passing out.
I do like the aesthetic of the one your considering given it has a smaller footprint than the Aero latch. But how does the functionality compare?

I like the minis for the Zcar project but the Z hood is hinged in the front and really can't fly up like the FC hood can.
I'd have to feel them in person before using on a FC.

The big guys are a positive mechanical lock (pin through hole), the minis are a ball/socket friction-type...hence the difference in load ratings.

Maybe your right about feeling them first. I can always get two more for above the headlights. Or use them to hold my front bumper on. Hmmm...

My experience is with just the existing hood latch freeway speed under hood air pressure causes a flexible carbon fiber / fiber glass hood to bow up and jump around like the OP mentioned. A couple supplemental hood pins mounted at the corners through the existing rubber bumpers will stabilize that issue. I used the AeroCatch since I hate the look of pins through a hood on all but old school muscle cars. But if I did it again I'd for that supplemental stabilization I'd go with the ones the OP is asking about because of the cleaner smaller footprint.
He asked for opinions and that's mine.

It's not that I'm too lazy to reinstall the hood latch. If I were lazy, I wouldn't have bought a project car. When I had the aerocatch before, it was a pain in the *** to get out of the car, unlatch the aerocatch pins, get back in the car, release the hood, get out of the car, unlatch the latch, then lift the hood. It shouldn't be a process.
Is there any other options out there that I may have missed?

There is an option, that I use on my car.
I retain the stock hood latch and only use the security function of it.
You grind part of the latch that locks the "second time".The part that is operated by cable.
That way you pop the pins, pull the hood up,undo the hood latch safety, and pull the hood all the way open.
