One item on the list down.
Finally got a new ignition switch installed and fixed the problem with the stero sucking the juice. A large part of the problems I listed in my original post way back when. Still have the head light motors to get running and the rear wiper but I am slowly moving forward on my driving GXL89 renovation.
One glitch after the mechanic installed the new ignition switch. When you open the doors after shutting everything down and taking the key out the car does that beeping/dinging like you left the key in the ignition or left the lights on. Close the door and it stops. Before I take it back to my mechanic, any ideas on what got wired wrong or snafued. Other than that small glitch I am very happy with how she is shaping up.
I also had my first tast of driving her in the snow the other day. Hardly the worst car I have driven in snow and ice. Just use common sense, keep it down to one gear lower, keep the speed down and get plenty of breaking distance and she will get from point A to B just fine. I do need to throw a little weight in the back to get better traction. I have lived in Colorado all my life so winter driving is nothing new. I have seen more four wheel and front wheel drive cars and trucks in the ditch than anything else. Many people think that four wheel and front wheel make them bullet proof in snow and ice. There are certain advantages in those cars & trucks, but it only takes an over confident driver to quicly wipe them out.
Thanks in advance for any advice on the ignition glitch :-)
Updates as the restoration continues.
