One Hell of a weekend

I bought an rx-7 in the summer for $400. I went down to miami this weekend to pick up my Rx-7 veritble. I picked it up and drove it to west palm beach with no problems. Me and my buddy changed the oil. (It came out like black water it was bad) flush the coolant and tuned her up. Next day it was off to Daytona beach. However it was hell!!! My buddy Don drove his 3000gt north on I-95 and I was to follow him we drove about 60 miles and no problem. Until we stopped for gas. I filled her up and we were read to head out. I shift into 1st and then I shifted into second and then when I was going into thrid there was no damn clutch pedal. "What the hell!" I said I called Don on his cellphone told him what was up. It was like 6:30 at night and we broke out the tools. Took out the flasg light and saw no brake fluid in the clutch resevoir. We disassemble the clutch piston-cylinder. The Seal was shot. ****! ok so I went into the flying J (gas station) and bought 2 bottles of fluid and and metric wrentches. We looked all around for something we could find for a seal. No luck. We were tring to find a rubber beveled seal and nothing came close. So what we did was put the piston-cylinder assemble back together and risk the chance. We bleed the fluid and I started the car by pressing the saftey switch with my finger. (I had to save every bit of fluid) I told Don lets get the hell out of here. The plan was get to melbourne and meet some friends. Go to super walmart and find a seal. 9:30 we left the Flying J or did we. Don lead the way out the gas station and the car stalled. Damn! I called Don back he didn't answer. Then his car turns in and behind him is a cop. Son of a bitch. Lucky the cop gave him a warning for reversing into traffic. I was like Don lets get the hell out of here. To change gears I had to pump the clutch like 7 times to build enough pressure. It was hell. 11:20 we get to melbourne. I parked the car at a 7-11. There we were suppose to meet are friends. So I go into the bathroom and Im talking a ****. Don knocks on the door real hard. "WHAT THE HELLS TAKING SO LONG" I hear the cashier yelling at Don get out of my store if you can't shut up. I get out the bathroom and I'm like u dork. While he's taking a leak. This lady somes out the bathroom and says "excuse who ever the F--- that was" I laughed but she didn't hear me. Don gets out the bathroom and we walk out of 7-11 then guy who's like 20 years old then us is like which one of you ******** scared my wife. I was like who are u calling an ******* you don't even know me. He's like ******* ******* *******. Then Don jumps in and then there was going to be a fight but I pulled Don away. Then are friends show up and the guy turns around and says "oh now your little ho's are here" I turned around and said who the **** are you calling a Ho. You have no respect you immature idoit. Finally, his wife calls him back to his Jeep grand and he drives off. So we head out to Hooters and ate and watched WWF on pay per view. After that we went to Super W and looked for this damn seal. We looked every where and found something close to the seal. "A TIRE VALVE STEM" holy **** this might work. We buy it get the hell out of there and go back to 7-11 were my car is parked. We disassembled the piston-cylinder and modified the valve stem to a seal. pulled out the metal check valve cut the stem and bam. We put the seal on the piston force the piston in the cylinder. assembled it and bleed the system. I **** you not it was like 2:00 in the morning it was freezing cold and I couldn't feel my hands or my face nor could Don and he's a hockey player. But the bitch worked. That part f-cking worked and took me home to Daytona. I swear me and Don should get bubble gum mechanic of the year. Thanks God O survived

Dang man, I know what its like to be stuck out in the cold working on a car. One time when I used to drive a 73 superbeetle the damn thing just died, right at a stop sign at the bottom of a small hill. So I had to push it up the small hill into a parking lot in 40 degree weather while it was raining! Now that sucks Needless to say I am quite happy to have the 7 which has never stranded me.

Nice job on the jerry wrigging, but there is just one thing. Correct me if I am wrong but you are in Florida right. How cold is cold, 55 degrees. Try working on a car in 15 degree weather. You southern guys don't know how good you got it.

Man something like this happened to me right after I got my FC. I was stranded for an hour while my mom was on the internet. She had her cellphone turned off too.

15 degree weather? Bad? HAHAHA. It's -15 here daily during the winter, and that's usually a warm day. Upper Michigan winters are a lot colder than new england winters!

man, i went on a hellride doing out of state car business. i sold my 300zx to some kid who lived in holden massachusetts (about 800 miles away from kentucky) then drove to NC to buy a perfect turboII.
the dude with the turboII never showed up, so we drove down there for nothing, then we had to drive to atlanta to buy another turboII we found... then the clutch went out while i was test driving it. the dude ended up paying for my rental car for the drive home and he delivered the car to me the next day.
damn that sucked..

at least the guy is nice enough to pay for your rental and deliver the car personally. Now that is a good seller.

Sorry

Sorry if I was uptight because of the problems I had with the car I missed a test the next day cause I caught up on some sleep. I think I was just really pissed and took it as a mart *** remark. I think im cool now. I have to go to the part store and by a slave cylinder tomorrow. Also, question? how long does it takes a clutch to be broken in?

I think I write this whenever I see someone get stuck without a clutch...

Anyway, you don't need a clutch to drive a car. To start from a standstill, turn the engine off and put it in gear. Then start it in gear, step on the gas and go. To shift while you're moving, just rev match. With a little practice you will be able to do it fairly smoothly...

Unhappy Rev match

I don't understand the rev match concept can anyone tell me how to do this in detail? I know it has to do with the sync
