OMP/TPS question

All,

I searched, but couldn't quite find the answer I was looking for. Here's the deal..

I'm installing an S5 NA engine into a friend's GSL-SE (1st gen). We are running the GSL-SE front cover and OMP (just like the S4 OMP). The plan is to run the S5 ECU, harness, etc.

Now, the S5 TB doesn't have the spot for the OMP rod, and I know I can use an S4 TB (with a small mod) to work on the S5 intake. This will gain the spot for the rod, but I wonder about the TPS. The S4 is setup for the single plunger TPS and the S5 is dual.

- Can I mount the S5 TPS on the S4 TB? This would probably involve moving the 2 lobes from the S5 TB over to the S4 TB, I suspect.

- Is it possible to easily adapt the S4 OMP arm to fit the S5 TB?

I know that we need to have the S5 OMP plugged in (to avoid LIMP mode), but the S5 OMP will not fit the GSL-SE front cover without some custom fab work. Another possibility is premix, but we are trying to avoid that if possible. The final option that I can think of would be to wire the OMP arm partially (or mostly) open. This would increase oil consumption and possibly cause some smoking at idle/low load, but would be a simple solution.

BTW: we can't just use the S5 front cover to use the S5 OMP because the 1st gens mount the engine off the front cover (does not use center mounts like the FCs).

Thanks.

Kent

better method would be seeing if you can fit the S4 rod onto the end of the S5 throttle body. never tried it but i had thought about this myself during engine swaps.

basically you will just have to set a S4 and S5 throttle body side by side and see which way will work, not sure if the throttle rod is long enough on the S5 TB to allow for the TPS rod arm.

Thanks. I'll look into that. I don't have access to an S4 TB right now. I was hoping that someone had done this before so that I would know what would work before buying an S4 TB. I do have a GSL-SE TB to compare it to. Perhaps I can find a way to adapt the arm from the GSL-SE TB to work on the S5.
