OMP Might be bad & Compression Question.
I have a friend looking to buy and 1987 GXL RX-7 N/A. The current owner knows rx-7's should burn oil but says his isn't and if it is its not burning much. What kind of damage could come from a faulty OMP?
Also, the current owner said he was at a Mazda event and another RX-7 owner said you can tell when a rotory starts if it has good compression by a sound it makes. He said this indvidual said it sounds like it has very good compression by this sound.
I say what do you guys think?

These cars don't necessarily consume a great deal of oil. I have never added any oil between the 3000 mile oil changes since I've owned the car. You'd wipe out the seals without any lubrication.
Sound level would be depedant on cat/mufflers. Be diificult to determine the compression by hearing a car running, unless it had extremely low compression and unresponsive. Best to take a compression test..

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
The only thing I can currently think of that starting has to do with compression is a slow start can be a sign of low compression. Just tell him to do a compression test on it.
