OMP can the lever go on the wrong way?
OMP can the lever go on the wrong way?
hi all,
I just did a rebuild on an s4 OMP, all seals very snug fitting, lever works smoothly, linkage works perfect.
1. is it possible to put the lever on the wrong position (like are there two possible combinations?) as mine is now absolutely pissing smokeout the exhaust!!!
2. there are two adjustment holes on the linkage, which one should I be using?
thanks for any help

There's a page in the ENGINE (assy) section of the FSM that shows how much *slack* should be in the rod before it actually pulls the arm up. See FSM.
If the slack is right, then suspect one of the oil injectors is kaput. Check out the checkvalve in each one of them per FSM.
To prove the OMP is not the problem, make a blockoff plate for the OMP and stick two DIMES under the plate to take up the slack in the drive shaft. Then maybe put some two stroke oil in the gas. THEN see how much oil in on the dipstick and drive the sucker for several hundred miles and see if the oil in the pan drops down or not. Should not if all is well with the oil control rings. Lack of some you mentioned should confirm it was the OMP ......but I doubt that was/is the problem.
