OMG! Finally Fixed

bought a 86 S4 NA back in Feb. Week later flooded the engine like a *****. replaced the ecm, and whole ignition system. 3 months later engine starts(hallelujah), but wont stay on. Replaced uim and lim gaskets and abrakadabra the bitch stayed stayed on. A week later wont hold idle. Omp and bac delete but still nothing. Tighten throttle cable very tight = buttery plates always open = car stays on but bouncy idle and overheated. Alt double pulley and overheating fixed. Adjust tps, time ignition, clean/change spark plugs, and oil changes like a gazillion times but didnt do ****. Continued driving with fluctuating idle until today! 2 days ago changed plugs with all leading(no trailing) got good results. Yesterday regrounded boost sensor and adjust the tps. Today no erratic idle no 3800 hesitation; very high idle(1900) so pulled the accelerator pedal the opposite way and idle drops to 1100 when released idle rises back up. Tomorrow gonna loosen throttle cable which means 100% fixed.

how about you set the throttle stop closer to 1000 and less revs with the set coupler connected ,, THEN calibrate the TPS

fine tune the idle speed at the BACv adjust screw ( turbo cars only )

-----------------------------
you MUST calibrate the TPS if you move the throttle stop position

you MUST set the idle speed with the set coupler bridged ( s4 2 wire ) or grounded ( s5 one wire )
else it will react the BACv ( if still fitted ) around your moves
