Technically they aren't open headers on a turbo .

Running open headers in a drag race wouldn't damage anything would it? I'm just nervous about those fuel lines running under there. I'm also worried about the cv boots on the half shafts. Can any tell me if it is safe to run them for a 1/4 or two?

i did this a few days ago after removing my cat to see if it was clogged. started the car up for ***** and giggles. let's just say the neighbor who owns a Mustant GT immediately stopped playing basketball and turned around with a big WTF? on his face.

 

well sorry about the distortions guys but it was windy today and I don't have a garage. That last clip was with the FULL exhaust back on so it gives you a comparisson and an idea of what the duals sound like and how much quieter they are than most people say.

Let me just say that about five houses from me there are some guys that own two MUSTANG MACH 1's and used to do that friday and saturday nights when they go to the drag strip. People in Tx are tolerant unlike others. lol

 

at idle it has a hint of a diesel sound to it. Maybe its just me though. I've often wondered how much louder my car would be without mufflers, but I've never actually gone and cut off 3/4 of my exhaust pipe. Maybe if my car doesn't sell soon I'll just fix it up with stuff like side pipes and maybe some badass heads.

 

Yikes, how can you stand that sound? I know how loud the NA's get with stock ports and full exhaust . . . and I mean mild full exhaust with RB presilencer and no straight-throughs (low rumbling dynomax dual).

Aaaaaaahhhhh! I'm going to street port mine but use the stock main cat and cat-back just to keep it reasonable.

 

hehe I went straight manifold 3 weeks ago when I was putting on my Bonez Super Flo.

That was loud. I was idling everywhere. and when I rev'd it to 4K I was startled.

Kinda hard to do since I was running CS Catback with straight pipe and High flow cat before, so i was use to loud.

I guarantee you could hear me a mile away.

 

has anyone ever cut off their stock mufflers and just left the rest of the stock exhaust?
my friend says he knew somebody that did that and it actually sounded kinda good and wasnt crazy loud or anything.

Some of you guys have either got to be kidding or are just really stupid. I can't imagine any place on earth where that sound would be "cool." I too started my car once to see what it would sound like with the cats disconnected... Stupid lawnmower on steroids sound. It's embarrassing and I can only imagine the choad who would drive around with the loudest, most annoying car in the state. Not only will the driver make himself look like a total dumbass, it's extremely inconsiderate towards your neighbors-- whether they complain or not.

However, if you are brilliant enough to drive around in a car that causes tinitis (sp?), then it doesn't surprise me one bit that you are a complete ricer.

Ricer stupidity never ceases to impress me.

yeah sorry about the quality I wish I had my old MD that way it would be DIGITAL and stereo. I think that it was just tooo loud for the recorders.

Well, heres my two licolns!

I've driven my na witout any exhaust before. Yeah its freaking loud. Yes, not only was it God's bowels, but it was enough to have the cops called on me *to my house* at 4pm in the afternoon while installing new exhaust. The cop literealy laughed at me and complemented me on my car. He stayed about 10 minutes until I physicaly bolted the new (or rather old) exhaust system back up. Suprisingly he didn't say one word about the fact I wasn't using a cat. He must have noticed too, or at least I would think. I later found out that he is an old friend of my dad and he volunteered to take the call when he heard the address. Still a pretty cool guy.

Anyways back on topic--
Its insanely loud. Right know I'm running straight pipe back to the two stock muflers. The mufleres are rusted out and the sound is still noticebly irritable @75mph.

I don't really think its from the lack of cats, but for the simple holes in the muflers.
