if you get a Z, get one of these:

http://www.fsinet.or.jp/~ranfa/

NA L-series 6's can make 260rwhp easy...intake, full exhaust, cams, maybe a little more compression
what???? my dad's car has that, and my car beats his. it has nowhere near 260rwhp. I'd like to see an N/A Z with 260hp, and still streetable. even at the crank.(with an L-series motor)

240Z and try to stuff a RB26 in there. That would be up there with the 20B.
agreed. some guy in canada put a RB26DETT in a 240z, sold for $28,000? I hope U.S. dollars. that thing's crazy!!!

true...corrosion is a problem with the early Z's. 280zx's will be in worse shape that 240-280z's bc I think the early cars tend to be babied more than the later ones. in any event, for a project car I'd choose the Z...for the every day car I'd take the FC. A project will most likely see most parts removed and replaced and likely a paint job. Paint and bodywork might be $ for a Z, but nissan still has original parts like fenders and such and it's really not as expensive as you think. our Z got 2 new nissan factory fenders, rear bumper (the front is a custom fiberglass piece to clear the massive FMIC and 2.5 inch IC piping). We also have lots of other brand new nissan parts that just got installed like brackets, clips etc...

well, the carb's NA's will be easier to coax power out of but even the FI cars should fair well. a bit more specific would be headers, straight pipe, intake, cams (aggressive), high compression, head porting etc...i'm forgetting stuff & it certainly takes parts and effort but cams and compression is the key and a stock bottom end will take the beating without breaking a sweat.

That was one of the main reasons that I swayed away from buying one also, because I was under the assumption that I needed to do a swap to get any kind of decent power out of one, and I just dont have the time or money for that. If you're saying that i can get around 250rwhp on the N/A engine, i might have to start looking into them again......

you definitely can...remember, power is in the head, durability and strength is in the block. the best option would be a simple turbo kit...a stock 280ZXT turbo and manifold along with the turbo AFM and a simple FMIC from a starion etc... is a FAST car in a 240-280Z, and these motors sound soooooooooooo good with boost. from that point you go to simple fuel pump, injectors, ignition upgrades and a boost controller for a killer car with mostly used parts. we've turbo'd a number of NA Z's this way over the years and it really makes for a fun & fast car. simple spring/strut/swaybar and panasports w/ wuality tires...the best

280ZX turbos are the cars to steal parts from...direct fit turbo/manifold. the 300ZX turbo is a V6, not an inline = no fit. the 300ZX turbo is not nearly as potent a motor, it's just a disappointing car by comparison.

Personally I'd take the RX-7. What does the Z have over it? The original 240Z does look pretty cool, but that's about it. Zs went down hill after the 240Z.

I bet you are going to lose control of your Z for sure if you put down 13Brew. Because 13Brew is much lighter than UZ (z'sengine). In simpler words, your car's front will be so light that you might over steer it.

Plus, if you wanna put down 2JZ, which you could, but I bet you gotta modify the engine bay a lot. Since the 240z's engine bay werre designed only for it's stupid block

BTW that's my opinion...correct me if I'm wrong ok?
