old, beat down, cracked, and generally just crapppy TPSs. DIY???

lately ive been seeing many posts of a rex running bad, and the end result is the tps taking a crap.
i myself have gone thru tons, and theyre not cheap..
as far as i can tell the tps wouldnt be too hard to make, but thats easier said then done..

has anyone successfully made one, or have any idea where to start, or if its even reasonable (money, time, effort)

all i know is, im kind of done with having to replace these every ~14 races/weeks

any input?

If you don't have an s5 T2 LIM with an FD UIM/TB, you need to buy a new one. People spend so much money on less important stuff for their car but they won't just buy another TPS which has a huge effect on driveability.

We would all like the original ones to last forever but most people have at least 100k on their original ones before they fail. You can get a new one at the dealer, Mazdatrix, or at some aftermarket places like Rock Auto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=933056

whatever you rig up in your garage will never work as well as a proper replacement part

I wish my problem could be solved simply by swapping the tps, i'd gladly buy a new one. I've got an extra just in case...

i would like the idea of a new one, but $200 is a little out of control.

however, being the broke college student i am, and being as ingenuitive, i want to try and make it.

^did u figure out the issue.

ya i HAD spares too lol and all of them went belly up in a short amount of time

$200 sounds like a lot. But you're not just buying a sensor though. You're buying an engine that won't flip out on you. I bought a new TPS about three years ago and I've never had any trouble with it and it never gets out of adjustment.

Of course it's possible, but there are a couple of things to consider:

1) How much time and effort will be required?

2) Will the end result even work as well as a brand new OEM piece?

One of the first thing I got for my FC was a new TPS, even it didn't 100% solve the "jumping idle" problem, it helped a lot. will fix it after I rebuild the engine. (Waiting for NRS seals to come + warmer)

I bought a Turbo TPS and swap the brackets to save myself 100 something bux.

you can get a new one from a lot of places now, it saids reman, but usually they're brand new parts. They simply can't say its "OE" because only Mazda can say their parts are OE.

ya i did the same.

but i dont understand why the LIM and UIM would have to be changed, when the TPS is located in the TB?

I did the same in the opposite direction. After my turbo swap I had a bad S5 TII TPS and a spare good S5 N/A.

Yeah, I got a turbo TPS and just bent the ears back and swapped it to my NA bracket.

Cheaper!
