So if I park my car for more than like 3 days the battery is dead. This is a brand new heavy duty battery. I think it might be a bad starter ground. It isnt that I have left anything on that might drain the battery. Any ideas?

 

If the battery is dead, something is draining power. You will have to look at things like lights (inside ones as well), stereo, alarm... unless it's visually obvious, this could be a Pita to track down.

 

it happened to me once, turns out my dome light was on and was draining out my fully charged battery in 3 days... turned it off and never happened again

 

Mine does the same but it takes about a week to drain it. I have torn apart the whole damn car twice and still have not found anything that could be draining it.

 

To find which circuit is causing an electrical drain.

Get a VOM with a 10amp scale.
Remove the battery ground and jumper in the VOM (set to the 10amp scale).
Pull and replace the fuses one at a time and watch for the current to change.

 

If a continuous battery load proves elusive - install a battery cut switch until you find the actual problem.

 

Make sure bat has 11.5/12.5 volts available. Start and you should see @ 14-15. Put accessories on and should not drop below 12. If it does alt or regul;ator problem. Make sure belt is tight, and I mean tight. This will keep bat. up to snuff.
If all checks out, remove neg terminal and continue as above stated. If no meter available you can hook up a light between the cable and terminal. If light on , circuit draining bat. Start pulling fuses until light goes out. If light stays on there could be a problem between bat and fuse panel. If aftermarket alarm system installed, also could cause the problem.

 

$5 says it's the alternator.
