Question Okay, serious questions about my setup

I am just about to put my rebuilt motor back in my car; in fact it goes in on Labor Day. Here is my situation I need to pass California smog check 2 (and visual). My motor has a stage 2 street port, and a hybrid stage 3 BNR Turbo. I also need to break this motor in before I add the rest of the juice. So to begin with I am going to reinstall the stock air filter, stock exhaust system with new cats, stock TID, and a modified ECU chip designed to help pass emissions tests with a street port. Will I ruin my turbo (or anything else) running the car like this for 500-1000 miles? (Long enough to break the motor in a bit & take care of DMV ****)

I mean I will have nothing but the stock setup for boost control & the stock BOV setup. (But I plan to hardly touch the gas the whole time, staying out of boost) Limited intake & exhaust with the stock stuff installed. Air pump and all the other emissions equipment will be intact also. The waste gate on my turbo has been heavily ported. I know with this setup I cannot expect much in the way of performance but that will all change once I get DMV taken care of. Is there going to be a problem with this as a temp setup?

Once I get home I have block off plates for the ACV ready, full turbo back RB exhaust system, custom TID with cone filter, S-AFC, 1000cc secondaries, TurboXS type H BOV, Apexi EBC, Walboro 255L fuel pump, and another modified ECU chip programmed for high performance, and all my other gauges and goodies to install.

Does this all sound feasible is there something important I am missing? Please any input is great I don’t want to ruin anything after all this work. Should I install my EBC or S-AFC First? Will the stock BOV be okay if I stay out of boost? These are the things I’m concerned about.

Disclaimer: This car is intended for OFF ROAD use ONLY! I will be running only at the drag strip and street course.

Thx a lot.

My main concern is the modified Turbo;

· 800-900 CFM compressor wheel
· 15 degree clipped turbine wheel
· T04B compressor housing and back plate
· Dynamic thrust collar
· Ported turbine housing entrance
· Modified thrust bearing

With large streeport using;
stock BOV, Stock Boost control, and restrictive intake & exhaust.

Unless you punch it you should be fine. I mean I know its hard not to get on it but if you can do it I don't see a problem. You should be able to stay out of boost altogether anyways.

Yeah, I was serious. Run some denatured alcohol in there, maybe 3 gallons or so to about 6 gallons of gas and you should pass with flying colors, though the car would probably run like **** you should be able to pass easily. Let me look around more for you.

Just search if you need more Some people suggest different mixing, such as 1 gallon to every 4, or 2 to 6, depends, I believe the most I've seen someone actually run was 3 to 6 gallons.

Right on, I am a little more worried about the hardware than I am passing emissions.. this chip I got has been very sucsesful in the past at getting street ported motors to pass in CA. (or so I was told) But its no pass no pay around here.. so I will give it a shot first with the pure stock setup I was talking about.. and if that fails Alcohol it is Hell I drink enough of the **** I can pass some on to my car right?

Thx fellas

Edit: what sort of place do you buy the car booze at?

Uhm, autozone might have it? I believe if you search for denatured alcohol someone mentions where to buy it.

Most any large auto parts store will carry it under the name methyl hydrate, as well as a couple pharmacies. Stay out of boost while you have the alcohol in there.

As well, Methyl hydrate bonds to water and allows it to be burnt. It is commonly used as gas line antifreeze, sold in 16 ounce bottles, and will remove any moisture currently in your fuel system. I pour in a half gallon in the middle of winter every year.
