Question ok, who could beat me?

ok heres the story. i have an 87 n/a base model which has a hell of a lot of pop in it with a full exhaust system and some basic other mods that are very inexpensive.

i have 2 friends that are getting cars soon. one of them is getting a 95 or 94 or 96 civic, some year of the newer body style. and he says hes gonna "drop" a jdm engine in it and he could smoke me. i know that isn't true. 1st question, how much work/money would he have to put into his civic to beat me(i know noone knows exact numbers haha )

i have another friend who has about 6000$ saved up and he may either get an 88 or 89 supra turbo charged or an early 90's mr2. i know the mr2 is gonna be turbocharged and should make about 180 hp and the supra should make over 200 hp. can someone sum up how badly i would be beaten and emmbarassed by these cars hahah? or do i still have a chance against them...

Well, the MR2's going to have the fastest quarters out of them (assuming they're stock) The early 90 MR2's ran 14.2-14.4. The Supra will net somewhere around 15.4, which is obviously faster than a '87 NA is going to be. Now, consdering you have the base you're a little lighter than the heavier cars, but I still can't see doing any better than a 15.8 (and that's if you run perfect, I'd guess 16.2 or so) Against the civic, can't really tell unless you figure out what goes in it.

Your buddy obviously thinks JDM = Fast. Not necessarily true. A lot of japanese cars have LESS power than their american counterparts. You should be able to beat the Honda pretty easily. You might be kinda close to the other two cars, depending on what exactly "full-exhaust" refers to... Do you mean you have a Racing Beat system (or something along those lines) or a Mom-and-Pop homemade thing?

also with an N/A you are dealing with the general issue that unless you streetport or do something more drastic you will only hit around 200-215HP respectivly.

you would not hit 200-215 without a street port..

you could make 200hp with a large street port, Haltech, Exhaust, Intake, and no accesories. By exhaust I mean illegal ones not highflo cats.

bingo: thats the way to look at it, and if they keep doubting the power of the rotary get someone here with a TII to come down there and let them see the power of a rotary, because al they'll ever see, is their tail lights.

Yea basicaly unless you go loco with the porting like a bridge or peripheral or shoot some NAWS in there you will loose to the TURBO cars but I think tha Civic will lose to you. I slaughtered an accord no problem when I just had cone filter. I can't wait till I see that guy in his neon billboard car again I will smoke him so bad now.

hah i killed a prelude w/ a full exhaust, intake, new injectors S-AFC, just to name a few. The idiot had a CF hood, his load on the front was too light and the damn tires just spun. I know he would have probably beat me but he couldn't get his tires to stop spinning lmao. Sorry this happened last weekend and its still fresh in my mind

oh yeah, when we puled over he was like how the fsck did you beat me, my car is modded. I was like, its simple physics, your FF and you have a CF hood. Less weight on the front means easier lift and loss of traction.

God why wasn't I an engineering student....oh yeah calculus...*shudders*

well I am in the suspension and cosmetics stage myself. All I need to do is to finnish A/C removal and Emmisions removal. I plan on getting some coil overs and replacing all the bushings and such. I also want some good tires but not ones that will only last six months. I need tires that will last a good two to three years. I am keeping the BBS rims for now and I want to get a cage and some seats with a six point for me and a four point for the passenger side( girlfriend). I also want to remove my power steering. then it will be all body work and paint from then on until I find some thing else to fix or upgrade. That is if my engine holds up but I expect it to.

He can get me all the safety stuff including two 6 point harness seats, full cage (i honestly forget how many points), net, and other goodies for under 1k installed. God I love knowiong people. It helps that I recovered his fininces from his computer (10 years worth). Hence why we are friends
