Ok Ok 1 more time sorry if it annoying
Sorry to be so i dontknow what but i am worried about my baby (you might understand) but here it is 1 more time.. I have been reading through some searches and now i am eve more worried.
How can i tell if i have a bad motor, apex, or vacum problem? The symptons are that it has slow revs, poping in exhaust and no power. How it started?? Well i bought the car (87 TII btw) and it wouldnt idle. it would fall below 1 grand and Die. Well i got used to driving it that way. And a few days later i'm driving and i'm going about 40, i give it hell and goto 80 i slow down and pull in (seems fine) and the I shift back to 1st and its slow, has no power and wants to die on take off. Oil level was fine. I got home asked a few people what could be wrong adn they said vacum instanlty. well I checked vacums noticed a few were off and replaced them the car now idle but stil slow revs and no power and pops alot. oil pressure seems fine (according to guage) and i hear a hiss sound behind the intercooler. i cannot find the source... would this be my problem?? oh yeah and i have big feet and i dont know if this would be anything but i noticed a yellow wire coming from under the dash.. It goes into a connector with a Black and white wire, its a big connector but i think just the two wire.. i think my feet may have ripped it out while shifting... I also see lots of smoke when started and bad gas milage ( i drove it around the block a few times with 1/4 tank and now just at E) It was an all the sudden problem but it worries me i hope i dont need to replace th engine or apex seals. btw what would apex seals cost with installation?? i read a few searches and there is a guy with a similar problem and it ended up being a bad motor...
It's my baby i cant just lave it alone.....

You said you heard a hissing coming from the IC. That leads me to believe its just a bad boost leak. What PSi are you boosting to in 2nd/3rd gear? If the boost leak was bad enough, you wouldnt have the boost, and on top of that, the engine would make the car run way too rich thanks to the AFM. The computer will think a lot more air is going into the engine than really is, and will overcompensate. That would cause horrible gas mileage, popping in the exhaust, no power, and the stalling.
have someone rev your car while you look under the hood, to see if you can find the source of the boost leak. Then take the IC off, and whatever else you need to to get to it, and fix it. If you cant tell where its coming from, take the IC off, and look for anything that would cause a boost/vacuum leak.

Ill get back to you on the yellow wire. I dont know what it is offhand. I think the vacuum leak is what you need to worry about first.

Have not had a lot of experience with T2's but had a couple of Saab turbos. I blew a turbo once and it acted much the same, poor gas milage no boost the waste gate wont open so the car feels like it has a constant turbo lag (which could account for your hissing).Sorry I cant give you a good diagnostic test for the turbo but that is what it sounds like to me.

toast?
I just took my car to the shop, i was able to shift into 3rd. I saw boost in all gears. I also got it past 5grand. As for the smoke ; on a warm day you cant really see it it just smells like strong exhaust, on a cool day it looks like thick exhaust on a cold winter day. My dad says it looked white/grey and my gf thinks it was blue *shrug*
I noticed less pops in the exhaust.... the engine is smooth when running. anymore suggestions?
new Q's-
If it were toast why would it use so much gas?
Is there still hope?

I thought that
I wonder about that because, when i bought it the guy just had a new Fuel pump installed.. maybe they couldnt handle it.. Could the injectors have been clogged, and worked better with lower pressure? But i have a fuel pump switch and the car almost dies instantly when i turnit off.. I wish i could remember but i think it was awful exhausty when i bought it but i cant remember. .. I'll check that out too.. first thing tomarrow morning is a compression test. if it has good compression i'll be happy if it doesnt I guess i'll get a new motor anyon got one This is like christmas morning... except bad
