Smile ok now that it is running right for lil stuff small oil leak

ok i got a small oil leak on the driver side, up underneath the water pump houseing....how long, how hard, and how much will it cost to put the new gasket in, i figured since i got it running beutifully now i would start on the smaller stuff (and yes very sure on the oil leak) I figured it was coming from underneath the water pump housing so anyone got a clue?

Exclamation oil leak help plz

ok i stated in an earlier post i had an oil leak the oil leak is coming from up under where the CAS is. now the only thing i can figure it can be is the front cover gasket. but then again i am not that experinced with wankles. so my question is, is it the gasket and if so how hard is pulling the front cover and if not what the crap is it!?!?!?!?! oh btw it only leaks above 2k rpm

Make sure this is oil and not coolant. That's a likely place to see coolant leaking from a failed water pump. If it's actually coolant, you will need to replace the water pump and gasket.

If it's oil as you have indicated, you will need to pinpoint the exact source and cause of the leak in order to determine what to do about it. Could be a gasket, could be a dowel pin seal between the front housing and the first rotor housing, could be the "O" ring seal on the CAS, and so on. If you can post close-up pics it might help someone here point you in the right direction.

ok i know it is not coolant sat there and watched it while my bro in law brought the rpms up to 2k.....the oil leak is coming down from imbetween the cas shaft housing and alt (just to give you a idea of locations of leak) and it is draining down the front of the front cover. so is there anything else but the front cover and do i have to remove the whole darn motor to replace the front cover gasket if so the it is going to have to continue to leak :p

Okay, you need to go back to square one.

#1 removing the air pump will kill the Aux Ports and VDI operation on a S5 non turbo, pretty much killing low end and top end power. Nothing like a -25 HP at bottom and -35 HP at top end of the power curve.

#2 the water pump does not have oil lines near it. You probably have a bad O ring on the MOP which is sort of below the water pump.

#3 if it really is coming out the water pump, then you probably don't know the difference between coolant and oil.
