ok, new AC problem
i just added freon to the car and first it started huming loudly on the passenger side of the car and vibrating the car slightly. it would go away after a while.
another can later, it wouldn't go away.
then the compressor starts spitting freon out at the firewall. i checked to see where it was coming from but couldn't.
do i have a blockage in the interior a/c parts? did i charge the a/c too much? is there a check part on the compressor that lets off excess freon (like a machine gun)?

Did you vacuum the system down? Has it been converted from R-12 to R134A?
If you are mixing the two types together, you can cause all sorts of problems. I haven't been able to get a straight answer, but it varies from causing the system to either freeze (no freon movement) or blowing o-rings out and as high as blowing out the compressor.

That is usually a good sign you need to check the flow through the condenser coils and valve. The compressor has a pressure relief valve that pops when there is a blockage or overcharge. You might have other issues as well, so give it a good look.
i've figued that theres a clog in the condenser. could that be from too much oil?
fwiw, it's a 134 convert that was opened up earlier today.
i put in 1 oil
then 3 freon
then another oil
then another freon.

Sometimes when doing the convertion, all the moisture is not removed from the system. When you put in the 134, it freezes the moisture in the metering system and creates a block. I think, also, you put too much 134 in the system. This is just judging by what you said though.

Yes, there is definitely too much freon in the system.
Our cars only take 2.5 cans of freon. The $33 kits you buy at Walmart or Meijer come with three cans (11 oz each I believe) and it took me just over 2 cans to charge my system from empty.
I vacuumed it down and then added the freon. Been working like a champ for 2 yrs. now

I hate to say it, but I think the guys are right.....it sounds like a blockage someplace.
If you keep adding freon, it may cause a blowout in the compressor or the evaporator (which is a royal pain in the **** to get to).
I would either get some gauges to see how much freon is left in the system or else get it vacuumed down again to remove any moisture in the system. I think they are right and it iced up on you.
If freon somehow got out, then moist air also got in the system.

The S4 on-line manual has a Heat & AC section.
