The wiper switch, you are better off rebuilding. I searched high and low for one for my 88, but since the 88 uses a specific one, not found on any other model or year they are almost impossible to find.

Its really a quick rebuild. I did mine this morning in 20 minutes total, including removing and reinstalling the switch.

I am also looking for a single BBS/Mazda wheel center cap. They have them for $75 at Mazmart, but that seems a little high to me, for something that the whole set of wheels is gonna get sold in a couple of months.

Pretty simple actually.

The wiper intermitent relay tends to overheat and the contacts stick.

so:

#1 get a replacement relay. The replacemeS-DC12 made by Omron Electronics Inc. This is a 12V, PCB relay, 8A SPST-NO/SPST-NC which is a drop-in replacement and its pin-out is identical to that of the original relay. A good source for the relay is Digi-Key (1-800-344-4539) which carries this relay as item Z950-ND. It can be ordered using Digi-Key's on-line ordering system. I think I paid $15 total with shipping to CA and min order charge for two.

#2 Remove switch. Remove the steering column cover. 4 screws. Pop both the top and bottom of the steering column cover off.

Then remove the cluster surround/Bezel. Three screws at the top of the cluster bezel/surround. Two at the bottom left and right corner. Carefully pull the surround out far enough to reach the 4 plugs on the back of the suuround. Unplug them a and pull the surround towards the steering wheel, then up. If you do not have a tilt wheel then you will need to manuver the bezel past the dash pad and steering wheel carefully.

4 screws hold the cruise switch (or blank) and wiper switch assembly. Pop all the ***** off the switch assembly then pop the switch out of the surround/bezel.

Then pop off the rear cover to the switch assembly.

#3 Next trim the plastic away from the area over the relay (#3 in this picture).
.

I used a belt sander and sanded down that are to get access. It was very quick. I imagine a grinder or dremel tool would work fine as well.

I next used a solder sucker ($10 at any electronics store like radio shack) and a soldering iron and removed the solder from the relay
The relay will push right out then.

#4 Pop the new relay in, solder it and put everything back together.

The driveshaft from any RX-7 with the same engine/tranny will fit. If you have an automatic, you need a driveshaft from any automatic 86-91 RX-7. If you have a manual, you need a driveshaft from any NON TURBO manual transmission RX-7 from 1986-1991.
