Exclamation Ok, add coolant?! or...

Here it goes again... I thougth that it was over but i think that it
got worse...
One day i noteced that i when i started the car i would see white
smoke coming out of the tail pipe. It would not happen often. My
car then after a couple of weeks started to give the buzzard "add
coolant" light would also come on. Like before the car fas fine on
coolant and didn't need any. I decided to flush the radiator to see
if that would have been the problem and the coolant was in very bad
shape. The next week my car over heated on my way to school so i
decided to change the thermostat to see if that would solve the
problem. I took it out and put in a knew one. The old one was pretty
bad but i didn't think it needed replacement. The same day the car
over heated again. I then thought it probably could be the water
pump. I went an bought a water pump and replaced it. one thing that
i noticed was that in the new water pump it would spin faster than
the new one, and some white residue in the peep whole. I started the
car and drove for a few and the car just over heated. Some one told
me that it probably is the radiator, but i don't see how? i spoke to
a mechanic (who doesn't know work on rotary) and he said that it
probably is the head gasket. Some one else told me it couldn't
possible be it. Am confused about the problem and very desoriented.
If anyone could enlight me i would greatly appreciate it...

Help me please...

well 1st of all you do not have a head gasket so dont bother with that mechanic again. 2nd check your radiator it could be leaking. Especially if its the stock one with the plastic end tanks, they are known to leak just by leaning on them.

Then look at your spark plugs. See if they have a white frosty glaze on them. That could be a sign off coolant seals in the engine going bad. Or if the exhaust smells "sweet"

There is also another thing you can do like turn the engine over with one of the fuses removed so it will not start( but turn over) and if coolant comes out of somewhere( forgot where exactly) then yes your coolant seals are going for the worse. Especially if the coolant smells like fuel.

Pressure test the cooling system. It sounds like an o-ring failure, allowing coolant to engter the engine. Also, search for "bubble test" and follow that procedure.

If this is the case, then the only cure is to rebuild the engine.

I could not possibly think that the engine is going bad... i have just had this engine on for a less than a year and it has less than 15,000 Km/Mi... some one else suggested that i should pressure test the cooling system. I will try that but am thinking of taking it to a shop and see what the problem is...

A pressure test will tell you easily if this is the case.
