oil thinned very badly

oil thinned very badly

i just recently changed the oil with 20w50.
and i drove for about a week and i recently checked the oil and its very very thin.
it drips off of the dipstick
it doesnt really smell like fuel

The oil will thin out as it heats up and get thicker as it cools. So that is normal.

maybe i wasnt clear enough it dripped almost like water
and like i said it was 20w50
it def shouldnt be that thin especially when it not hot or anything

Well, there are basically only two options...

_The oil is contaminated with coolant (the ever popular "milkshake" effect) or fuel (but you said it doesn't smell like gas).

_The oil is fine.

How cool is cool?
Especially in the summer it can take quite a while for the engine (and thus, the oil) to reach ambient temp.

How's your fuel consumption?
Has it dropped noticeably?

sorry for the late reply
but i was wrong it does smell like fuel
and yes i do have a flooding problem
so does that guarantee that its the oil control rings?
could it just be leaky injectors

Well, unless your injectors are relocated to your oil pan............. then yeah. .its your oil control rings. Hehe
