oil temp question for 20/50 oil

ok, so its summer and i finally got time to flush my radiator and do an oil change. this time around, i used 20/50 castrol instead of 10/30 and my oil temp is around 60 now on the gauge. before when i was using 10/30 it was always in the 40 position. is this normal for using 20/50 since this the first time i've used 20/50. i did a search and many people used 20/50 for the summers so it shouldn't be a problem right? also, there is alot of heat coming into the drivers area from under the dash? why is that?

should i switch back to 10/30..its only been 3 days since i did the oil change. besides the temp gauge being a little higher then before, the car actually feels much better when i drive.

any suggestions, explanations would be greatly appreciated.

There is not normally an oil temp gauge on a FC. Perhaps you are confusing oil temp with oil pressure. Pressure should be around 60 at any RPM above 2000. If it was lower than that, you were using too light weight of an oil for the temps the car was operating at.

20W50 should be used in starting and operating temps above 30F.

10W30 should only be used with starting and operating temps between 0F and 80F.

oh yea, i meant the oil pressure gauge, thanks for the correction.
so 20/50 is fine then. thanks. i guess i was using a lighter oil before. the car does feel much better now with the 20/50.

I am running 20-50 redline oil! ever since my oil pressure stays higher at lower rpm! however when cold oil pressure is lower than normal! after it warms up great oil pressure...! also runs smooth! and no more smoking at High rpm .

oh yea, i also noticed no more smoking either. was it because of the light oil i used before that could attribute to the smoking. my area is rarely very cold so i guess the heavier oil is better for my application/location. my brother's 90 gtu smokes alot so maybe i can tell him to switch to 20/50 as well...even though i think he has an oil seal going bad. it may help him, a little.
