Oil Smells Like Gas
All,
88 TII just picked up for cheap. Car runs ok, but misses some and the crankcase oil smells like gas. It is relatively clean and holds about 30lbs pressure. Have not had time to comp. check yet. Leaking injectors? or bad Apex seals? The rubber hose to the input side of the intercooler has some oil around the clamp, maybe bad turbo seals? Thanks for any input on where to maybe look first.

Here's some early pics!
Got her for $800.00. Not bad consider I drove it on and off the trailer! Only sunroof does not work and intermittent wipers. Interior ok, normal wear. May need some engine work though looks bone stock.

spending too much money..

I just changed my oil involuntarily (oil cooler line break) and found that my oil smelled like gas and was very diluted. After a couple of searches on this site I found that it is caused by either
a. If your engine flooded before
b. Side seals not in as good as shape as brand new
c. It is normal to smell some in our cars
edit: for some reason I really like white tII's with black trim like that.

Hey All,
I got lucky on this one, middle aged women who had one too many cars. When I first looked and started it white smoked badly. This was in early morning @ 16 deg. I told her it most likely needed rebuild and wasn't worth much and made my offer! Took her 3 weeks to call me back and got her home tonight! Since, it has run ok today @ 53 deg. F.

Change the oil and don't worry about it. Old oil is a good way to kill a rotary engine.
I premix, and change my oil every 2000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. Changing the oil is a lot less annoying than rebuilding an engine.
