Question Oil pump removed? pics enclosed

First off what is this and is there supposed to be a line that goes here?

I'm assuming the oil pump was removed by the previous owner here? If so, why? and how is the car operating without it?

The oil pump is under the front cover of the engine. It has not been removed, otherwise the engine would have locked solid in a few minutes afterwards...

The first picture shows that the cold start assist has been removed. This is per a Mazda TSB. You will want to cap that extra line.

The second picture indicatest that your power steering pump was removed, or your car was never equipped with power steering (though I have never seen an FC with air conditioning and not power steering).

Thanks guys.

Damn it. I sounded really stupid. That's what I thought it was in the first place (power steering pump) but after revising the manual it looked like to me it said it was the oil pump to the engine.

About the open cold start assist line, all I need to do is cap it?

If it hadn't been removed I would have known what it was.
And as I said, the manual called it an oil pump so I went with what was in the manual. BTW I just bought this FC.

Well, tehnically it's an oil pump. The "power steering fluid" is just hydraulic oil...

I know this is a really old post, but I have an 87 base model with a/c and no power steering... just thought I'd through that out there
