Oil problem

Oil problem
When I start my car it throws HUGE amounts of blue smoke out of the tailpipe, But as soon as I loosened my oil cap the smoke went down to almost none. Is there some sort of ventilation valve that could be bad? or like a PCV valve that isn't working? I need help this is driving me nuts
