My gas and volt metter work fine. So do my tac and speedometer. But the water temp and oil pressure gauges are dead??? help please. I know its not good for these to be off.

 

Did you check if the sensor still connected ? Those 2 sensors are close to each other and it's easy to pull off the connectors.

 

are u talking about behind the gauge cluster? cuz there are two connectors and they are both plugged in at least im pretty sure.

 

The area right under the oil filter pedestal.

The sensors are def. connected and the gauge cluster is connected. When i was installing my transmission i forgot to ground the loop on to the solenoid. And when i touched the negative ground on the battery it sparked up crazy. Drained my battery. would that have screwed it up?

 

if those gauges aren't grounded then they won't work, ask me how I know

Did you check any fuses? I think it may be the METER fuse you need to check.

 

okay allll the fuses are working and nothing now what??

 

mine goes from 0 all the way up to the "i" in oil pressure now and then. i guess its just the connection on the sending unit. id like to have a steady number for once though.

 

Do you have condensor (small black box) bolted onto the slave cylinder? If you dont there is a chance you may have blown the oil pressure gauge but that still doesnt explain why your water temp gauge doesnt work. Have you tried disconnecting and then reconnnecting the connectors? Maybe they arent getting a reading because they are covered in oil.

 

Disconnect the water temp gauge under the oil filter. Its just one wire, now have a friend look at your gauge with the car in the ON position. Now ground out that sensor wire to some ground on the car. Does it PEG H???? If it does then you found your problem, the sensor is dead or has a bad ground. If it doesnt do anything then you can pretty much assume the sensor is working fine and its a wiring or electrical issue on its way to the gauge.

Since it seems like you have two not working I would check the grounds on the back of the gauge cluster. Sometimes you get a bad connection from the little metal screws holding the cluster together. Otherwise it could be some bad solder joints on the back of the cluster as well. I had a case like this for the volt meter in a friends car.

I can't remember if you can test the oil pressure with the same technique of grounding it out. So I wouldn't try it incase it were to cause more issues.

I got some of the same problems as you!
My oil pressure doesnt go any higher than 1.3kg and my boost gauge is completly dead.. HELP ! i also got this constant "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" when i turn the key on.. and its not the same beeeep as low water beeep

 

If u have a beep uve most likely thrown an error code. Look in the FAQ for more info.

 

Power steering giving you issues, that could be another causae for beeping. Just like the others said the FAQ at the top can help with that one...

 

Well, if it were me I would of course do what I said above to see if the gauge and wire is still good.

What do you mean you already checked? They make contact, did you measure resistance??? Do you even want to go through that mess??? Just ground out the wire and see if the gauge goes up! If it does then its your sender... its as simple as that. (99%) of the time. Make sure the key is on!

 

okey but the beeping isnt so important :P its the low oilpressure im worried about!
(i have checked the FAQ, it doest tell what kind a beeping this is.. its constant BEEEEP, but ill check the PS because i havnt connected it :P)

 

The constant beep is the power steering computer complaning that its not conencted. Its behind the dash speaker under the steering wheel. Unplug it if you dont plan on restoring power steering.

As far as oil pressure, check what I said above about testing the gauge. If your gauge works get a new sender. Or buy one of those racing beat setups so you can run a mechanical gauge in the engine bay and be 100% sure your getting proper oil pressure.

 

We had a tranny rebuilt and we have same problem. The oil pressure gauge does not work but when you turn the key to acc the gauge is peged. When motor is running it reads zero. Also when your turn key from run to acc the motor stays running for about 5 sec then shuts off.

WTF

 

I just talked to my mech he found the problem. There is a wire that goes to a capacitor filter that suppost to filter noise at the starter. Any way that wire broke off and he ended up grounding it. When he disconnected the wire the oil gauge worked properly. The filter is only $10 from the dealer.
