oil pressure sender?

A while back, my battery died.... not knowing alot about rx7s and their electrical gremlins, i went about searching through the engine bay for a bad ground, broken wires, ect. i found one. it was the ground for the oil pressure sender. One of those wires with a resistor in a little black box on the end where you attach it to the body or wherever. I couldnt find where it was supposed to connect to, but a few days later, i read something about it needing to be connected to the clutch slace cylinder mount. so after a while of trying to mount it different places and getting no results on the oil pressure guage, i found an air wrench and was able to get it off. when i put it all back together i noticed that my guage now reads about negative 30 psi! im pretty sure that it was one of the other mounting places. it could have also been the resistor, but i replaced that. I have tried 2 other oil pressure senders, with no luck. But i think there is something else wrong, but unless all 3 oil pressure senders are bad, something else is messed up... Just wondering if one of you rx7 gurus know what else could be wrong. And yes, the contacts on the wires are clean.
