Electronic help

Picked up an S5 idiot light cluster and just swapped the inner lense into my S4 cluster... Got the wiring figured out except the "door" light... for some reason with the key in the OFF position and the doors SHUT there is still a very small amount of power coming through that wire causing my dome light and door lights to stay on after the doors are shut. Whats the deal?

Get the schematics out and figure out which circuit you accidentally tapped into that's feeding those lights...

You could also try pulling fuses one by one- if you pull a fuse, and the lights go out, that's the circuit that's feeding it. Start with the top two rows of fuses- they're the ones that are hot with the key off...

hmm... mabey i should explain some more...

The pin is in the correct place so that when i open the door the "door" light comes on... BUT with the Key off and doors shut the interior lights stay on... if i unplug that pin... they shut off... but then obviously my "door" light wont come on when i open my door...

Put a diode on the dorr wire coming from the clock/warning panel.

You know you could have used a 88 clock/warning panel as it plugs right into the 86-87 style dash, and the 88 panel has the same blacked out look and angle as the 89-92 has.

And if you have an old panel (especially a 86 panel with red/orange clock) I do buy those for my webstore as I rebuild them.
