Oil Pressure Question

Did some searches and couldn't find the answer i was looking for

What should the normal operating oil pressure be, just had the oil changed - it's Castrol GTX 20W-50 like i was told to put in it.

The gauge is reading pretty close to the top, is that like 100? 110? something like that. Now, is that normal, is that high? is something wrong? I'm not driving it around, since i'm still getting registration and whatnot taken care of - but that did concern me when we were taking it home.

Any help is aprecaited as always.

Thanks very much!

~Erik

Normal oil pressure is ~71. I've found with my car though that until the oil warms up(20w50) it will run up at 110. If the pressure goes back down after the car warms there is nothing to worry about.

Using the stock guage mine will run up there too with 20w-50 and a mazda filter when my RPM's are higher. It will flucutate in that normal zone most of the time while driving around town. Hope this helps.

Mine used to hit 110 also with the old sender unit. Got a new sender, doesn't do it anymore. In other words, you're probably not hitting 110, it's just your sender getting old.

Mine runs about 58 almost all the time after the rebuild & the bypass pellet mod (dead on 30 at idle, though), how low is "below 60"?

Mine's at 60 when cruising... Unless it decides to be stupid and go up to 70 or so.
