oil pressure question

Ok--I tried to search on this, and even found a post of mine asking the same thing in a thread but it was never answered. My car has good oil pressure while I am driving or revving the engine--right around 60 at 3K. But when it idles, it is between 0 and 15. idle is about 800 rpm and it is completely stock. I am not sure where to look on this. I just took the sending unit wire off and cleaned the connection but it does fit kinda loose, so I am going to tighten that up tomorrow morning. Any other ideas? TIA...

OK there is a part called a wax pellet in your main pully (not "in" your main pully but in the E-shaft) And the spring in it goes bad, and lets oil pass threw to freely, threre for makeing you have very low oil pressure. All you have to do is remoce the main bolt that holds on the pully wheels that are on the E-shaft, and there will be 2 springs (hardly any preload so don't worry about them shooting out) And there are a couple of companys (I think mazdatrix is one) that sell sold wax pellets. And you just put it in place of the old one. ORRRR you can go to home depot/lows or some hard ware store. And if I'm not mistaken get 5-7 M5 (???) washers. It may also be M7's but I can't remember. DON'T do this until someone else tells the correct size because it will probably screw the threads of your E-shaft if they are to big/small.

And that is the cheap way, but all you are doing that for is to give the springs a little bit more pressure so that oil doesn't blow by so easilly.

And I'll search and try to find the correct size washer for you. But this does work I did it to my last rotary and the oil pressure NEVER dropped below stinking 35 PSI (whether that is good or bad)

So is this bad that the oil flows to freely? Because mine does the same thing.

Ooopppsss not wax pellet thermo pellet. Also the washers are M7's they can be bought a any hardware store, and you should use 5-7.

Humm I can't find a web site with pictures and detailed instructions, but it will be obvious where the washers go when you get the thermo pellet out.

It's acctually not flowing to freely, I believe that thermo pellet works as a bypass system for the oil, so your engine is acctually in a shortage of oil. And yes it can be very bad if the spring is very week, because your engine won't be getting lubed, and it will cause premature wear on alot of parts.

ok, here's the thing though....everywhere I read when I search talks about the pellet when the oil pressure is low all the time, and the front cover o-ring when it goes lower at higher rpms....

The problem I am having is different. Mine starts off around 10-15 at idle, but when revved or when driving, it is at normal levels. My idle is right around 800 and very smooth, and everything is stock. I have no smoke coming from it, and no smell that would indicate anything wierd, and it has 5W30 oil in it. How can you test the sending unit to see if it is working right? It seems like that would be where the problem is. Please give me any ideas you guys have--I do not wanna blow the engine on this thing. TIA...

The safest way to prevent them from dropping is to hve someone, or a bord/prop depress the clutch, so that pressure is held on them. So that they don't drop when you take the bolt out of the front of the E-shaft.
