oil pressure gauge wont work, tried everything!

So my gauge on the dash dosent work, I tested it by grounding the wire and the gauge pegged so thats not the issue. I just replaced the actual sender itself and still nothing. as a final attempt I ran a ground wire from the outer housing of the sender to the neg battery terminal and still nothing. WTF!!!!

any ideas?

there are only two things that make it work. The clips is the first thing and the second is the ground that is right near there in the wiring harness. make sure the clip is on and then make sure that part of the wiring harness is grouned.

yeah i just had the same problem and i tried everything. then i noticed that the little black box with a metel ring on the end of a loose wire was missing. went to the salvage yard and got one connected it back and it worked again. Does your gauge go way below the 0 mark or is it at 0? Mine was way past 0 like it was hanging there or something. Its not a hard fix though.

where is this black box you speak of? my gauge rests at 0 when i ground it it pegs way above the actual range of the gauge.
