Time signals?

No aftermarket gauges will work with the stock senders. You must install the new senders that come with the gauges.

Do new guages not work as an electromagnet? Or are they just not calibrated for sensors other than their own?

There are no electromagetets involved in the stock gauges...

The guage must be calibrated to the sensor used, simple as that. The chances of finding an aftermarket gauge that happens to have the same calibration as the stock gauge is very low, and you wouldn't even know without proper testing. Once again, you use the new sender that comes with the gauge.

I'm sorry i did not mean to write time signals but this signals. I want to put aftermarket gauges cuz my stock ones are not working now but unfortunally i do not know to which wire should i hook the after ones. I know where to connect the power and ground not the reading signals.

Aftermarket gauges, as a general rule, have their own sending units. They will NOT be accurate if you use the stock sending unit.

My plea to the U.S. government....................please issue more green cards (Indians preferred, no more Mexicans, please), or we're going to be third world before I retire. Humor, please.

So how do the stock guage "pointers" move?

Similar, but the actual needle moves because of a small electromagnet, no?. Not a bi-metallic strip.
Isn't there a permanent magnet, and an electromagnet inside the gauge. When there is no current, the North permanent and the South electro attract, showing "0" or whatever is on the farthest left of the gauge. Then when there is current to the wire, wapped around the electro magnet, it resists the pull of the permanent magnet showing a reading that is not on the left side of the gauge?

Or is that just how analog volt/ohm meters work?

I think you might be right actually. The S4 FSM wiring diagrams show what looks like the circuit wire coiled around a moving magnet connected to the needle. I guess bi-metallic strips are a bit more old-school.

I do mean to be a bloody **** but your lack of knowledge and overgrown smart mouth do not mix together. The fact is that when i wrote the thread i was late for work, nonetheless, i need some help. Instead of receiving help, all i receiving are smart coments from smart mouths. I was expecting someone to at least had added a aftermarket oil pressure and awater temperature gauge to their cars. I do know that i can not use the cluster harness to connect them. Therefore, i created this thread. To see if someone will point me out in the right direction where to connect them in a s5 non-turbo 13b. Thank you

I'm working on helping you. I just need to do some more research. I worked on *Time Signals* for some time but I see what you really meant was *This signals*. Well, a Google search hasn't come up with anything but I'm still researching it. Be patient.

So, while waiting for Google to come up with an answer, I read more of the thread. Now, once again I got confused when I read "I was expecting someone to at least had added a aftermarket oil pressure and awater temperature gauge to their cars." Now that's a puzzler. It makes no sense UNLESS you twist things around and add a few other words to that sentence.

I'm still looking up the word *awater*.

Please Uncle Sam, issue a bunch more green cards.

It was a bloody typing problem issue, i meant to write "a water temperature gauge" and also that i was expecting that at least someone had install either one of those two gauges or both of the gauges into their cars as a result of their cluster gauge going bad or damage. And for the record i'm a bloody citizen.

I'm not sure exactly who you're referring to, but whether it's me or Hailers, your "lack of knowledge" comment is not only laughably incorrect but also very hypocritical. You're clearly the one who has no idea what you're doing, not us.

The fact is that when i wrote the thread i was late for work, nonetheless, i need some help. Instead of receiving help, all i receiving are smart coments from smart mouths.
You've gotten the exact answer you need several times now. How many times does it need to be repeated before you get it?

I was expecting someone to at least had added a aftermarket oil pressure and awater temperature gauge to their cars.
I have. They work fine. I guess I must've known what I was doing.

To see if someone will point me out in the right direction where to connect them in a s5 non-turbo 13b.
For the last time, YOU CAN'T! You use the sender supplied with the gauge. What part of this is so difficult for you to understand?

Here's some advice. Learn to type properly. Proofread your posts. Listen to the info you're given. Don't be so damn ungrateful. Don't **** off the people trying to help you. Now off to my ignore list with you...
