Oil light comming on after oil change??
hey guys i just changed my oil today. I only put in 5 quarts even though the manual says the car is supposed to have 6.1, i put in 5 and the dipstick read all the way full so i didnt add any more oil in. When i pulled out of my drive way to do a quick drive my buzzer and oil lamp started to staggardly chirp(buzzer) and flicker(oil light). this only happens when im under accelleration and hit small bumps in the road (cracks between concrete) very minut un settled spots in the road make my oil like and buzzer chirp on for a split second. It still does it when im not under load, it just takes harder bumps from the road to make it chirp. Id appreciate any help on this one. thanks -alex

Add more oil. Oil will get trapped in the filter and in the oil cooler and not all drain back to the pan. Then, the oil level sensor in the oil pan will know you tried to skimp out and save $0.89 on that 6th court of oil so it annoys the hell out of you by flashing the red light and making the annoying buzzer go off.
It's a no-brainer. When the light comes on, it means you are low on oil. Add more.
I would try to follow suit with Project84 and explain the science behind the low oil light, but it's really simple. Add more.

well ill give it a shot, its just the fact that when it all started buzzing, i pulled into the gas station and checked my dipstick and it read full so im somewhat hesitant on adding more oil.
If the dipstick says it's full DON'T ADD MORE! Check the oil level sender to see if you haven't knocked it's plug loose while working under the car.

Check the oil when engine is cold.. when it is hot.. it doesn't read it correctly. But if it said full.. even when hot... that should be enough.. Do what NZConvertible said. But check oil when cold and see if its low or not.

4.5 quarts is full for the FC, I don't know why all the manuals say 6.1. Anybody?
I'm with NZ, the dipstick is a simple manual device, it's not likely to fail. That's what I'd be inclined to trust for an accurate assessment of how much oil is really in there.
