Oil Light came on!!!! What do I do???

I was driving home on Sunday when the oil light came on and the buzzer went off. I pulled to the side of the road and when I stopped, smoke began to come out my hood. The engine is fine, but I think that the hoses that plug into the Oil Coolant must have busted open. Has anyone been through something like this, and if so, What was the problem and how can it be fixed?

Fix the leak, add oil

Do not drive the car until then.

I mean this is pretty basic...

If you have a leak big enough to cause the check low oil light/buzzer on, then it should be very easy to see where the leak is, and replace that part. If it is the hose, get a new hose from corksport, if it is a leaking gasket, get a new gasket.

Pretty much Basic Automotive 101

Being old enough to be a parent to about half of the forum members, I can understand his bluntness.

At least ZeroFc shut off the car. A young friend of mine chose to ingnore my warnings about driving an engine when it over heats. He blew a heater hose on the interstate and then drove it home.

Now he has no car, no money and a spare engine sitting in my shop that he thinks I'm going to install for free.

Can you say " I'll pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today"?

I think not, and I'm getting blunter as I get older. The sugar coat wears off after too many I can't think for myself questions.

And I agree it is Basic 101.

I agree but pointing out someones short givings is not what RX-7 lovers are all about. Some people are not so smart and I tolerate them. You take a teenager and they are all about the now and then one day a light pops on the top of there head and then they join reality. Give them a break you were one too.

it is a common problem on a 7, the oil cooler lines become soft and mushy after miles of use and abuse and rupture, i preferred an upgrade so i took my cooler line to a local hose shop and had them install some hydraulic hose to rebuild my existing line rather than pay $150 for a new factory replacement and possibly have the problem happen again.

do as everyone said, add oil and look for a leak. if you aren't competent to do even that then take it to a reputable rotary mechanic.
