Looks like you already figured out what you need to do.

I'm with Icemark on this one. If you don't pop the hood to check your fluids at EVERY GAS FILLUP then you shouldn't be driving a 7. That's like taking your kid to school and leaving him there all week and not checking in at least daily to make sure he's ok.

I hear that the S2K is the world's best automobile ever created. You should look into it if you want neck-breaking speeds and mad power.

You can redeem yourself by posting your VIN so none of us buy your car one day.

JK, keep your eye on those fluids!

So... I just read your original question to my 16 year old nephew (knows nothing about rotaries, or hell. cars in general. Doesn't even have his permit.) and he replied "Uhmm... Its an oil LEVEL sensor... ADD OIL!? DUH!"...

perhaps its time for Uncle Micah to have the "talk" with his nephew and explain the responsibilities of rotary ownership

Hey, we all make mistakes, I have had a fuel pump go out, concluded I must be out of gas and pushed my pickup 1/4 mile to a gas station to fill it up, only to find that I needed to change the fuel pump, and now the tank was full.

Chock it up to experience, it is no big deal.

Actually, the guage did read empty... It just happened that the fuel pump died while I was really worried about running out of gas. (It held 17 gallons in a 19 gallon tank, so that wasn't the problem.)

Note to all, running out of gas IS hard on your fuel pump, I don't recommend it.

Running out of gas, with an old fuel pump will burn the fuel pump out.

The fuel pump needs gas to cool itself... without gas an old pump dies very quickly

I don't have a lot of faith in this old chestnut. It may have applied in the early days, but since the fuel pump won't run unless the engine is running, and the engine won't run if there's no fuel to pump, I can't see how the pump could run dry for more than a second or two before it's power is cut, and I can't see the pump overheating in that time.

I've put power across the terminals of fuel pumps for a couple of seconds to test them, and they worked fine afterwards.

Unfortunately I have done this a couple times in the last 29 years of driving, and I can tell you that my experience with fuel injected cars with in tank fuel pumps, the absolute last thing you want to do is run it dry... because a good 50% of the times I have done this have had the fuel pump dead after that.
