Oil leaking from ACV

Well, I have replaced my ACV (air control valve) with a plate. From the bottom of the plate there is oil leaking while the car is running. How is this possible? Is this ever been a prob. for any of yall'? The car is running like crap right now it will not idle. I ported my manifolds and I have not got the thing to run right since because I can not get everything put on correctly. Any suggestions?
