Unhappy Oil leak & smoke??

I'm having a problem with an oil leak. I've been trying to track it down and finally did. At least the erea its coming from. It's right around the bottom of the oil filter. The filter's on tight. When I reved the engine I saw a little more oil come out from the same area. I just don't know EXACTLY where it is.

My other problem is the car backfires when I go over 5k rpm and lests out a cloud of smoke when I go into the 5-6k's rpm range. They both happen as soon as I let off the gas.

Last but not least. When I try to go faster and give it more gas the rpms are jumping up & coming back down ginving me a delayed reaction. Kind of like being in neutral and reving the engine. Could this be a problem with the clutch system.

Anyone ever have similar problems or can give me some advise??

1)Check to see that the oil filter pedestal is secured tightly. There are 2 10mm nuts that attach it from the bottom. There are 2 orings in there also that might need replacing.

2)what color is the smoke? If it's blue sounds like oil seals.

3)Not sure need more info. Do you have to slip the clutch alot more from a stop to get going?

Thanks for #1(oil leak) That sounds like something I can handdle.

2)The smoke is white.

3)If Im driving and my rpms are at 3k and I floor the gas peddle the rpms climb fast. But my actual speed hardly moves and the rpms dance back down to finally deliver the push I was waiting for. I do have to slip the clutch a little more from a stop but I have problems w/grinding or sliping.

Thanks!
