Oil Leak from oil filter mechanoid.

Buying a car that has a small oil leak coming not from the filter oil ring but the filter holder itself. Is this fixable from ouside the car or is this a special case of suckiness?

Thanks for the help guys/girls

Sounds like the pedastal (filter holder) o-rings. Theres two o-rings you cant see when looking at the oil filter on the pedastal. Reach under the pedastal and you should feel two nuts (I think 10mm). You'll have to drain the oil/remove filter, remove the 10mm nuts, and pull the pedastal. You'll see two o-rings, replace them. Takes about an hour.

Really easy fix.

They are 2 10mm nuts. a little hard to get at but simple.

Just go to the dealer ship and get the O rings. They are like 3 bux for both(when I got them).

It will also help save the Coolant hose under the pedastal. It gets soft and will rupture causing you to lose all your coolant and maybe engine if you don't catch it quick enough.
