oil leak and exhaust concern

ive searched and found nothing.

i have an oil leak that is coming from the drain plug and from this green circle.

i dont know if ive tightened the drain plug too much or not enough. ill guess ill have to get a torque wrench and tighten it to the appropriate torque.

does anybody know how i can fix the leak that is coming from the green circle?

ohh and recently when i start my car, it sounds like a lawnmower and it seems like i lose a lot of power. i thought it was starting on one rotor. the second rotor kicks in a couple seconds later. whenever it starts up like this i hear noises coming from right under me. kinda like choking noises. as if my exhaust were clogged. is this possible? do you think it's in fact starting on one rotor or the exhaust is clogged?

thanks everybody!

That's not a drain plug. It is one of the banjo fittings for the oil cooler hardlines. If you over-tightened it, you may need to replace the crush washers.

Second, I seriously doubt your car is starting on one rotor & having the second get fuel/spark later. It sounds more like your exhaust system is falling off or has a rusted out hole in a cat or something.

You'll need to replace the crush washers on both the drainplug and the oil line banjo.
Both easy fixes.

Have you check to see if the banjo bolt it self is leaking or if is from the oil pedestal thats located right above the banjo bolt? Also clean and area and run the car. Try to see where the oil is leaking from. Sometimes the oil line it self could be leaking and the oil just runs down to the banjo bolt since is the lowest part of the hose.

so i cleaned the engine, ran it and noticed that its leaking from here. is this the banjo bolt?

there was also some oil on the tranny. but it didnt return after cleaning it and running it.

i also noticed its the oil pressure sensor was wet with oil so im going to replace the two o-rings in the oil filter pedestal. once ive done that i think ill be able to determine if the banjo bolt is leaking or its getting wet because of the leak above it.

this is my metering oil pump right?

i cleaned it and im wondering if this should be connected to anything?

i also found this!

any suggestions?

As mentioned, the crush washers on the rear oil cooler lines probably need to be replaced. If they've been torqued a few times they will become hard and possibly crack.

It's also likely a lot of that oil is coming from the filter pedistal o-rings.

The metering oil pump lines start to leak when they get old. Replacing them is easy, but requires removal of the upper intake manifold.

Looks like you just ran over a plastic bag and it has melted onto your exhaust? Combined with the oil blowing back there it will make odd stains.

alright so i removed the oil filter pedestal and the o rings seemed to be in good shape but i replaced them anyways with ones i bought from mazdatrix. i noticed some cracks on the oil filter pedestal. over 10 of them. pretty small but still cracking . ill post some pics up soon. i re installeed the oil filter pedestal and its still leaking so im guessing its the cracks causing the leaks.

my questing is has anybody ran into the same problem? did replacing the oil filter pedestal stop the leaking? could it be something besides the oil filter pedestal cracks causing the leak?
there are no oil filter pedestals avaliable on the mazdatrix website. im going to try calling and make sure they dont have any. does anybody know where i can find one?

I've never seen a cracked filter pedistal before.

Hmmm...check the area carefully before answering this next question:

Are you sure the oil is not coming from between the rear/middle iron and rotor housing?
