oil leak
I've got an oil leak in the area of the oil filter. I've changed the filter so its not that. I believe it is coming from under the oil filter housing. Is this commen? Is this an easy fix? From the manual it looks like a couple "O" rings.('86 base NA)

Haven't we ALL heard this
You got that straight. There are 2 o rings down there that go bad. Very straght foward repair. There are two 10mm nuts on the bottom of your filter stand. Remove the filter. Then the two nuts. The stand comes off and then peel out the o rings. Coat the new ones in oil and install.
If you want an oil pressure and oil temp gauge holes racing beat makes an adapter plate. www.mazdatrix.com sells them.
Try the search function for more information. Your leak is common.

Most common leak is the filter stand, oil cooler lines, and the pan gasket. Not prone to injection lines or tubular dowel leaks, though the front pulley 19mm bolt likes to work its way out, causing oil to follow. Look for oil sprayed around fan and on hood. It's a good time to replace the thermo pellet as well, since everything is already apart.
