oil leak=loss of HP?

Can having an oil leak be a cause for a loss of HP?

Hmm, what can cause a loss of HP then from the actual engine, not turbo?

hmmm...

if your spark plugs are bad/old/gummed up you might be losing horsepower.

If your air filter is clogged, you might be losing HP.

If your fuel filter is old/clogged, you might be losing HP.

If your compression is dimishing, you might be losing HP.

If you have a 6-port N/A and no air-pump or the 5th and 6th ports are malfunctioning, you might be losing HP.

If your catalytic converters are to plugged up, you might be losing HP.

If you drive a turbo without a working Turbo, you might be losing HP.

Alright I got new plugs and changed the oil. I have an intake with an almost new filter on. I got a Mazda fuel filter to go on. I have a TII. My cats could be clogged I guess. I think I will just change the fuel filter and buy the DP/MP to get rid of the cats and see what happens. If it doesn't seem like it has the power it should I'll get a compression test. Thing is its like my top end doesn't do anything. Like I reach 4-5k and thats the max of my power, like 5-7k takes forever and has no power.

yea it seriously sounds like either bad ignition transfer (bad term) or definitly could be clogged catalytic converters, but make sure that if you replace them with a DP or MP that you watch carefully not to over-boost...

If you still seem to have no power after that, I would recommend maybe checking the ignition cables to make sure they are getting good amounts of power through for the spark plugs (also check battery cables for corrosion).

Other than that, it might just be compression...god forbid...

Well I haven't changed the wires yet, but that will be one of the next things on my list. I have been very concerned about overboosting so I think I'll have all my precautions ready for the raised boost levels, plus if it goes too high I am going to put the stock intake back on. Thanks alot.

My car has a noticible loss of power when the oil is a half-quart low, but when it's full, it's fine. The leak doesn't cause the loss, the lack does.

Yea I think I noticed the same thing. When I fill it up I notice some more power. Still I know I am lacking alot. Need to figure this **** out. I am pretty sure I have low compression though.
