oil hit 110 psi at 4k
my oil gauge started reading 30 psi instead of just under at idle 3 days ago but never exceeded what it normally would, but today it hit 110 at 4K rpm, do you think the gauge just died or do you think it was a regulator, where is the oil regulator? is there a way to test it with out another gauge?

the sender may have died, your oil filter could be bad, etc etc. as for the regulator you have to take off your oil pan to get to it, and as for being able to get an oil pressure reading another way.....i believe you can with a gauge that goes where your oil filter goes

On a totally different subject, I noticed the last line of your sig.
Having worked for Compaq technical support for over 2 years, I feel your pain. All I can say is that I hope you learned your lesson.

Haven't we ALL heard this
Before you start talking anything about pressure relief valves or oil change problems.
There is a 99% chance your gauge is on the fritz. The stock gauges are worth nothing. Jack. You should get a mechanical gauge and check your pressure.
If you are cheap (Like me) you can make a mechanical oil pressure gauge for under $10 at Home Depot. First Get some hose (high pressure would be nice) maybe about 4 feet. Then get a pressure gauge (one that would go on a water storage tank will work since this is only temp) then get two barbed fittings and work it so that gauge is on the hose.
Then find out what size thread you need to put this in your engine block. Take out your stock sender. That will help you will thread size.

Yeah, I'm gonna be adding an Oil Pressure gauge and a Water Temp gauge. They're not mechanical. but they make gauge specific sending units which will go toward accuracy. They're pretty cool...digital, with three illumination color choices and they're rectangular. I'm gonna install 'em right below my head unit. Check 'em out.
