Oil control ring springs specs?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 88 turbo and it seems like in the rebuild kit I ordered it didn't come with new oil control ring springs. You would figure a "Master rebuild kit" would come with them... The motor had almost 150k when pulled so I'm pretty sure they're gonna need to be replaced. I'm curious how to measure the oil ring springs to see if they're still within spec and useable.

So, I would think that the contents of the master rebuild kit should have been specified Kind of half assed if a company is selling a product without specifying the contents.

The specs and procedure are in the FSM I'm sure, but I wouldn't bother checking them. It's about $70 for the complete set from Mazdatrix. I'd just buy the new ones.

Just out of curiosity where did you get your kit?

I purchased the Atkins "Master" rebuild kit figuring it would come with them but looks like I was wrong. After some digging in the FSM I've haven't found any specs for the just the springs. Anyways I found somebody local who sold me a set rather than risking it with the old ones, though they didn't seem too worn or fatigued.

Looks like you install the old oil seals and springs in the rotor and check for free vertical movement and measure the protrusion. Replace the oil seal or spring if necessary. I'd guess the seal for movement and the spring if the protrusion is wrong. That's on page C-44 in the S5 manual. I know you have S4 but that should be the same for both. Sounds like you're set since got some replacement springs.
