Oil change/tune-up questions
Hi guys im relatively new to the forums although ive been looking around for a while now. I just bought my FC so I figured id become a registered member. I just have a few quick questions im hoping someone could give me the answers to. I looked through the faq and I must say it helped out tremendously but theres still a few questions i have left unanswered..
First off, I just recently got my car so I plan on getting a major tune-up/service done (oil change, replacing all new fluids, plugs, etc.)
I was wondering how many quarts of oil do I need for the engine? It is a NA 13B.
Also, what kind of oil and thickness do you guys reccomend? I was thinking 10-30 Mobil 1 full synthetic. I would get Royal Purple due to the good things ive heard, but I dont know where to get it around here. I live in southern california so the weather can go from fairly cold to fairly warm (sometimes all in a day). I was thinking 10-30 would be the median in this case, or should I go 10-40 because summer is coming up and its going to start getting a little hotter during most of the day (probably around 80-90 degrees)?
And do you guys have any reccomendations on what brand transmission oil/spark plugs/wires I should get?
Thanks

i'm in vacaville which has way more heat difference than LA it hits 110 here every other day in the summer and low 30's in the winter , 10-30 is fine for you. though my rx-8 run on 5-20 and i think i'll try that on my fc next oil change
oh and before they say it, supposedly synthetic isn't that good for rotaries cause of the way it burns. i can't confirm or deny it,

The FSM has information about how much oil the engine holds and what viscosity should be used. Completely dry, I think the engine holds 6.1 quarts.
Without knowing your EXACT weather (guessing because you're in Cali.), 20-50 summer, 10-30 winter.

Spark plugs: NGK NGK NGK
Wires: I just go with OEM replacements. You can go with Magnacor or something for upgrades, but it's not necessary.

I live in GA. Michelle was using 10w40 for nine years, but when I got it, I was told I should switch to 20w50. It seemed to make a difference, being more free'd up feeling.
Regular gear oil is okay for your tranny...geesh. Oh, and if you have a Limited Slip Differential...MAKE SURE IT'S LSD OIL!
