Oil Bypass Elmination = 60 PSI at high idle?
I just got my baby running again (literally minutes ago) after my second engine rebuild (don't take that to mean I didn't do my first one right...lol), and the oil pressure is twice what it used to be at idle.
Is it normal for oil pressure to be at 60 PSI on a cold start if you do the oil bypass elimination? Or did I use too many shims? (used about 5 washers and shimmed less than a CM).

LA.
I took it for a short drive... man, 3 months of recycled vomit (crappy trucks and mini vans) and now I'm back to filet mignot again. It's almost indescribable, although I do miss the headroom. The new clutch is great, although I need to make sure it's adjusted properly.
Now I need to put the hood on...lol
The oil pressure seems to go to about 40 when hot and 50 or so at a cold start. I guess that's what happens when you get a new pump chain and shim the bypass entirely.
And I think I may have finally solved my nagging problem of the mystery thumping noise. I think it was a the exhaust banging on the head shields, or the transmission crossmember. But it's gone now from what I can tell, so yay.

When started cold it should idle high around 60 psi. Then when it warms up it should idle at about 30psi. When hot and rev around 3k it should rise to 60 again. Try cleaning your connection at the oil sender unit.
