Oil at the bottom of the rotor housing
Oil at the bottom of the rotor housing
Im just looking to buy a rx-7 and the one i am looking at is an 88 Turbo 10th ani and it wont start due to oil at the bottom of the rotor housing. This is what is said in the description an im planning on seeing it this weekend but before i did that i want to see how much work is needed to do that. If somone could answer this it would be a great help. Thanks, Eric
oil at the bottom of the housing? how did they look in the housing to see the oil? do a compression test on the car for sure. poor man test is pull the 2 lower spark plugs and wires out of the motor and take out the ign fuse next to the drivers side strut tower. then crank the key and listen to the whooshes. they should be all even sounding if it seems to skip a beat or one or 2 wooshes sound weak then its blown. this isnt a sure fire way to test if its good, just a good way to see if its bad. post your findings this weekend and welcome!
Sounds like they are either intentionally giving you bad info, or they don't know what they are talking about. Either way, be careful.
If the car won't start, he is going to have a very hard time selling it. Use that as HARD leverage to get the price down. Figure that you may have to rebuild the engine. $$$
