1100 for my RX-7 slight rust, but awesome running condition. And only 84k. Look for another car.
And if you buy a car with SOME rust buy a quart or two of Rust bullet or POR-15 that stuff is awesome, simply amazing.

That's a 100 dollar car on a good day. Being an NA, an a series 4, with a rough body and a burgundy interior, and a blown motor...well there are not really any bright spots on the car, nor are any of the parts worth much at all. I bet I couldn't make more than 400 bucks off that car if I parted it to the bone.

I'm still astonished at how well the response on this forum is! I'm definitely going to wait for another, as I'm not very good with body work and only have a slight understanding of normal engine work, let alone rotaries. Maybe in a few months after tuition is paid off I'll bug you guys about another, nicer car, asking your excellent and extremely helpful opinions (yes i'm kissing ***).

First off- you're obviously not gonna get flamed for asking a valid, specific question.
Kids get flamed for coming in here saying "I saw a n/a s4 rx7 for $1000 can I turbo it make 500horsepower with a couple grand?" or something like that. Anyhow.
It'd be a bad purchase. I spend the same amount for a GXL with a body in acceptable condition, but a blown engine. While I'm happy with my car, I wish I had waited for a much better deal. If you could get the car for free, MAYBE you could justify the cost of an engine rebuild, until you find a better body to throw the engine in.
That said, it would be stupid to try to use that body long-term, like for anything more than a year.
Good luck finding a cleaner one! btw, check out the for-sale section here! you might find something you can drive home in for not too much cash!

I was going to go your route and buy a project car, but my forum friends talked me out of it. I recently bought a 1988 GTU in immaculate condition for 3250, and it drives like a dream (It needs a new starter because the solenoid keeps freezing up but thats a different story). Anyways SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR THE RIGHT CAR...
