offset question

Would it be a dumb thing if I put rims that had an offset of 45 instead of 40?

It probably wouldn't hurt anything, but don't even think of running 225's with a 45mm offset!
Let me guess, you are wanting to use some unilug FWD wheels, right? That would explain the high offset.
